THE ROLE

We're seeking a visionary and strategic leader to take on the role of Manager of Energy Transition and Sustainability. Trimac is a North American company with over 75 years of history that is geared to embrace a changing, technology driven future and we're looking for candidates who want to join us on our journey!

In this pivotal position, you'll spearhead our company's transition from fossil fuels to lower emission and explore renewable energy sources for our trucking fleet.

You will also direct the company's efforts to make its facilities and site operations more energy efficient, driving positive environmental, social, and economic impacts while aligning with Trimac's core values and sustainability commitments.

Our successes and performance in these respects will be documented in periodic reports on sustainability and ESG metrics that you will prepare for our customers and/or for broad distribution.

This role reports to the Senior Director of Spend and Analytics and interacts with sales, truckline operations, maintenance, front-line managers, external agents, vendors.

WHO YOU ARE
  • Solid understanding of renewable energy technologies - electric, hydrogen, and biofuels as they apply to trucking operations.
  • Strong project management, communication, and problem-solving abilities, with a proven track record of driving positive change.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

  • Craft and Execute Transition Plan: Develop and implement a comprehensive energy transition plan for our trucking fleet, complete with timelines, budgets, milestones, and performance metrics.
  • Federal Program Initiatives: Explore and gain access to government energy transition programs and funding in Canada and the US.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders"senior management, drivers, suppliers, regulators, and industry associations"to ensure a seamless transition process.
  • Technology Evaluation: Research and evaluate cutting-edge technologies and practices in renewable energy trucking, providing strategic recommendations to advance our objectives.
  • Progress Monitoring and Reporting: Track and report on the progress, performance, and benefits of the energy transition, addressing any challenges that arise along the way.
  • Team Leadership: Partner and coordinate with cross-functional teams, with a focus on leveraging their professional knowledge, skillset, and innovation to accomplish the tasks and objectives for this role.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends and innovations, leveraging them to enhance our competitive edge and customer satisfaction.
  • Sustainability Reporting: Compile and report on sustainability and ESG metrics to stakeholders, contributing to our annual Sustainability Report.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, business administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years managing energy transition projects, preferably in the trucking or transportation sector.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing published reports and customer communications related to ESG and sustainability.
