Job Details
Trimac Transportation, headquartered in Calgary, AB, is seeking a Financial Analyst intern to support financial analysis, contribute to full-cycle accounting processes, and participate in ad-hoc finance-related projects. The intern's responsibilities will encompass assisting in the internal reporting efforts for Trimac's Canadian and US operations. The intern will report to the director of corporate accounting.
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and review routine and ad-hoc journal entries for month-end financial reporting.
- Calculate, post, and reconcile monthly interest accruals, fees amortization, principal, and interest payments for Trimac's long-term debt.
- Compile monthly financial statement packages for various companies within the organization.
- Assist in preparing quarterly board packages, including updating MD&A (Management's Discussion and Analysis) charts and tables.
- Perform the necessary calculations and reporting to ensure compliance with bank covenants.
- Assist in asset and depreciation reconciliation and reporting.
- Conduct bank and corporate account reconciliations.
- Participate in other assigned duties and ad-hoc projects as needed.
Management Accounting:
- Create non-standard reporting packages as requested by senior management.
- Summarize large amounts of data to analyze key performance indicators.

- Proficiency in financial statement preparation.
- Self-motivated and effective in collaborating with internal stakeholders.
- Flexible in transitioning between independent and team-based projects.
- Strong time management skills for handling multiple assignments in a fast-paced work environment.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Qualifications
- Current student in Finance, Business, Commerce, Economics, or equivalent degree/diploma.
