Job Details
The Transport Tank Welder is responsible for welding, assembling and repairing components used in the fabrication and maintenance of transport tanks and tank trailers used to haul dry bulk products, liquids, fuels, and chemicals.
This role requires precision welding skills, the ability to read and interpret blueprint and fabrication drawings, and strict adherence to industry safety and quality standards.
The position will also contributes to project planning by supporting cost estimating activities, reporting on project progress, and collaborating across departments to ensure efficient workflow and high‑quality results.
Responsibilities
- Perform TIG and MIG welding on stainless steel, aluminum, and carbon steel tank components and frames.
- Fabricate and assemble tank shells, piping, brackets, and structural supports.
- Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication drawings to ensure accuracy.
- Inspect welds to ensure compliance with company and regulatory quality standards.
- Perform repairs or modifications on existing tanks and trailers.
- Maintain a clean, safe work environment and follow all workplace safety procedures.
- Ensure adherence to CSA B620 welding regulations, including repairs and modifications on highway and TC portable tanks.
- Support team members and collaborate across departments to plan, coordinate, and complete fabrication and repair projects efficiently.
- Contribute to cost estimating by providing technical input on labor, materials, and fabrication requirements.
- Assist in planning and scheduling by reporting project progress, identifying delays or issues, and supporting continuous workflow improvements.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Journeyperson Welder certification or equivalent trade experience.
- Certification through Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training (AIT) or recognized equivalent.
- Experience welding stainless steel and aluminum preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and welding procedures.
- B-Pressure certification considered an asset.
- Willingness to learn and perform CSA 620 tank testing and repairs.
- A combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.
