Pay Details

  • Salaried position
  • Bi-monthly direct deposit. 
  • 40 hour+ work week
  • No overtime
  • On call as needed
  • Starting salary $60,000
  • Experienced dispatcher may see higher starting pay rate or raise after initial probationary period.

Schedule

  • Standard Monday-Friday work week
  • Hours: 8AM-5PM in office
  • On call hours as needed
  • Coverage for other departments as needed

Job Details

  • The dispatch team at Doyle Sims & Sons is an efficient one. They pride themselves in being knowledgable and capable of handling whatever challenges present themselves. 
  • Dispatchers are responsible for not only developing positive, respectful, working relationships with their drivers, but also with our customers. Many of our customers have done business with our Company for 20 years or more. 
  • Orders are received by dispatch and planned accordingly with their fleet of drivers, ensuring coverage and quotas are met in a safe and timely manner.
  • Providing a profitable schedule for drivers that is also efficient for the Company is a key responsibility for this position.

Responsibilities

Driver Operations

  • Ensure drivers have the proper instructions to work safely and address any concerns.
  • Ensure drivers have adequate time to perform duties safely and within regulations.
  • Assign the proper equipment for the jurisdiction and the job requirements.
  • Review driver payroll to ensure accurate compensation.
  • Develop working relationships with drivers to encourage cooperation and efficiency. 

Safety & Compliance

  • Partner with Safety as well as the shop to ensure drivers and equipment meet regulatory and corporate compliance.
  • Where applicable, audit TMW reports for compliance requirements.

Customer Relations

  • Responsible for communicating the load plan to drivers and customers.
  • Meet customer requirements and ensure any changes are communicated.
  • Raise opportunities to increase efficiency for both the terminal and the customer.

Fleet & Equipment

  • Record data in the dispatch system data in an accurate and timely fashion.
  • Ensure workflow is completed correctly through the use of onboard ELD and desktop applications.
  • Ensure service failures are brought to the attention of the Terminal Manager or designate.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/ GED required. 
  • Valid Driver's License
  • 2-3 years of related experience in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Experience in the transportation industry preferred. 
  • Strong background in computer based technology and Microsoft Office programs. 
  • Social skills with the ability to converse comfortably with drivers and customers.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Self motivated
  • Ability to work well with others and be a team player. 
  • Familiarity with geographic logistics
