Pay Details

Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience.

Schedule

Standard work schedule: Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week.

Job Details

This position is responsible for internal and external financial reporting for Trimac’s Canadian and U.S. operations, including consolidated financial results. The role reports directly to the Manager, Corporate Reporting, and may receive guidance from the Senior Director, Corporate Accounting, or the VP, Controller.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

 

Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare monthly and quarterly Financial Statement package for various companies at the entity level
  • Prepare year-end Financial Statements, including notes to the financial statements, in compliance with ASPE
  • Prepare and review routine and non-routine journal entries for month-end processes
  • Calculate, post, and reconcile monthly interest accruals, amortization of fees, principal, and interest payments on long-term debt
  • Calculate and prepare required reporting for quarterly and annual bank covenants and compliance certificates
  • Support year-end audit process and requirements
  • Complete bank and corporate account reconciliations
  • Liaise with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, tax, treasury, insurance to resolve discrepancies identified in bank and corporate account reconciliations
  • Perform variance analysis of accounts to discuss with management as required

 

  • Assist with special projects as required (eg. process improvement initiatives)
  • Ad-hoc internal reporting (management reports, queries, etc.) for management throughout the organization

 

Management Accounting:

  • Assist with the annual budget process:
    • Prepare yearly budget worksheets for different business segments
    • Provide support to managers and evaluate inputs to ensure accuracy
  • Analyze actual results against budget to explain variances to management

Internal controls:

  • Perform quarterly internal control testing and prepare reporting to Board
  • Evaluate accounting systems to ensure accuracy of financial reporting across the organization
  • Implement continuous improvement and review processes and controls to ensure efficiency in all areas of operational reporting
  • Liaise with external auditors

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA with 1-2 years post designation experience
  • Knowledge of ASPE
  • Ability to set and meet deadlines and work independently
  • Well-developed interpersonal, team, and communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to concurrently manage and progress multiple tasks and deliverables
  • Mindset for continual learning, growth and development
  • Knowledge of Excel, Word and Powerpoint
  • Knowledge of systems including ERP (Microsoft Dynamics) and Workiva
