Job Details
Reporting the Director, the Area Manager is an exempt position that is responsible for the total operation of an area. The Area Manager’s primary responsibilities are positive financial results and to develop new business. Key internal relationships include Branch and Region Managers, Senior Operating Vice Presidents, and head office support staff. Key external relationships include present and potential customers, senior staff of other transportation companies
Responsibilities
• Ensure the most effective utilization of facilities, equipment, and manpower within the area.
• Create and develop business opportunities.
• Assist in evaluating new business.
• Work with current customer base on alternatives and integration of their supply chain.
• Maintain high standards of ethics in the conduct of business.
• Actively seek out new sources of revenue that are related and can be integrated into the business.
• Monitor economic and business factors and market trends, which can impact the business. Where appropriate recommend how Trimac should respond to potential problems and opportunities.
• Supervise, train, and develop Area staff.
• Assist with development and preparation of area plans, programs, and forecasts.
• Punctual and regular physical attendance is a minimum requirement of this position
Qualifications
• Experience in bulk and/or hazardous commodities is desirable.
• Able to handle multiple tasks in a high profile and fast paced environment.
• Ability to motivate individuals to achieve results and work as a team.
• Strong PC computer skills with Microsoft Office and related software products.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret financial reports and legal documents.
• Ability to effectively present information to top management and public groups.
• Proficient quantitative and analytic skills including abilities in statistics, and mathematics.
• Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to interpret and extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
• Accountable for developing an environment that adheres to the companies Safety, Health, Environmental and Security policies.
