Job Details
The Data Analyst is responsible for turning people data into clear, accurate, and well-structured reporting that helps the business understand its workforce. This role focuses on the day-to-day work of pulling, cleaning, analyzing, and presenting data in ways that are easy to understand and act on. This role supports reporting needs across People & Culture and ensures data is reliable, consistent, and communicated effectively.
The Analyst, People Data supports People & Culture by translating people data into clear, reliable, and actionable insights. This role partners across P&C functions (Payroll, Total Rewards, Talent, P&C Operations, and Employee Experience) to ensure data is understood in context and supports informed decision-making. This role focuses on the day-to-day work of pulling, cleaning, analyzing, and presenting data in ways that are easy to understand and act on.
Responsibilities
- Develop working knowledge of key People & Culture processes (payroll, compensation, workforce planning, talent, and compliance) to ensure reporting reflects operational realities.
- Run scheduled and ad hoc reports from the HRIS and other people systems to support regular business needs across People & Culture, Finance, and Operations.
- Pull, organize, and clean data from multiple sources to ensure reports are accurate and ready for use.
- Analyze workforce data to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies, and summarize findings in a clear, structured way for the Manager and stakeholders.
- Support headcount, turnover, labor cost, and compliance reporting on a recurring basis.
- Respond to data requests from internal teams in a timely and accurate manner.
- Collect, clean, and analyze large datasets from multiple sources, including HRIS, payroll, and operational systems, to surface trends, patterns, and actionable insights.
- Build and maintain dashboards and visualizations using Power BI or Tableau that present data in a format that is easy to read and interpret.
- Take raw data outputs and reformat them into polished, presentation-ready reports that tell a clear and compelling story for the intended audience that tells the story behind the numbers to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Develop a strong understanding of the business context behind the data to ensure reports reflect what is actually happening in the organization.
- Assist in preparing people data summaries and decks for leadership and cross-functional meetings.
- Support data governance practices including standardized definitions, report logic validation, and audit readiness.
- Monitor data for quality issues, inconsistencies, or gaps and flag them with recommendations for resolution.
- Support the maintenance and accuracy of people data within the HRIS, including audits and routine data clean-up.
- Document reporting processes, data definitions, and methodology to build consistency and institutional knowledge.
- Participate in system updates or testing as required, providing input on reporting functionality and data output accuracy.
- Observe existing workflows and reporting processes and surface observations on where manual steps could be reduced or simplified — bringing ideas forward for the Manager to evaluate and action.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of experience in an analytics, reporting, or business intelligence role; exposure to HR or people data is an asset.
- Hands-on experience with at least one enterprise HRIS or payroll platform (e.g., UKG Pro, ADP, Workday, or Oracle); willingness to learn additional systems.
- Working knowledge of BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau to build and maintain dashboards and reports.
- Strong comfort working with sensitive and confidential employee data.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to data accuracy and a methodical approach to quality checking work.
- Ability to present data clearly and simply and make complex information accessible to different audiences.
- Comfortable working collaboratively within a team and communicating proactively with a manager and internal stakeholders.
- Organized and reliable, with the ability to manage recurring reporting deadlines alongside ad hoc requests.
