THE ROLE
The Safety Data & Analytics Specialist is responsible for improving safety performance through safety risk assessment, training, application development, field auditing, and safety performance management. The Safety Data & Analytics Specialist will assist the Regional Managers to professionally develop their safety and training staff. Reports to the Manager of Occupational Risk. Interacts with various departments and Senior Leadership.

Location: Houston, TX (fully remote)

RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties and responsibilities of the Safety Data & Analytics Specialist center around the following:
  • Accident and Injury Data Analysis, Trend Reporting and Forecasting
  • Responsible for reviewing complex data from multiple sources, providing analysis and clear reporting and trending of accident, injury, and claims information to senior management
  • Define and validate technical requirements for Safety incident reporting
  • Design and facilitate training curriculum for regions and locations regarding utilization of Safety reporting tools
  • Process requests for locations regarding access to reporting tools
  • Assist Regions and locations with accident and injury trending and analysis
  • Review safety data/metrics to determine accident causation and contributing factors
  • Review the monthly loss control key indicators report comparing vehicle accident, product handling incidents, Environmental, Occupational and work-related injury performance with corporate goals. Determine why variances occur and participate in corrective action taken in response to each variance
  • Review Risk Management Information System (RMIS) reports to identify deficiencies and participate in corrective action
  • Perform administrative tasks in Intelex Safety Database to support reporting
  • Perform administrative tasks in Care Safety Database to support reporting
  • Monitor Power BI dashboards to ensure proper usage of the program at a Region and location level
  • Liaison with IT Partners to improve Power BI dashboards and analytical tools
  • Monitor various compliance data sources to identify patterns, trends, and sources of any discovered non-compliance. This includes internal and external data sources/systems (e.g.: Trimac Academy, DOT, OSHA, EPA, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Transport Canada, Labour Canada, etc.).
  • Review Intelex data entry for completeness and provide detailed reporting to the Local, Regional, and Corporate Levels
  • Reconcile Claims and Safety Incidents with Safety reporting to ensure accuracy
  • Complete accurate quarterly accident and injury reports for Corporate and Board reporting
  • Perform other duties as required
SKILLS
  • Working knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to safety
  • Must have strong problem-solving skills based on interpretation of safety related data
  • Must be proficient in use of computer for word processing
  • Must have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • BA/BS in relevant field preferred, or equivalent experience
  • 5 years of experience overseeing data, analysis, reporting, forecasting, performance, risk
  • assessment and loss control at the Manager level within the transportation industry
  • 2+ years of experience with Power BI, Reporting Services, Analysis Services, or other
  • relevant business intelligence software highly preferred
